Shot Gun Fitting and New Bodice Front

Looking at our fabric, the corset underlay and the new way we needed to construct our garment some changes were made, so along side all of the changes that were going on we also had to call our actor in at last notice to get a fitting on them, and to work out with the garment would really fit them.

So on to our shot gun fitting.

To get a more accurate picture of the costume we fit the costume inside out, with boning in to see how it would react against the body.

So at this quick fitting we found out the that the front did not fit that well. There was a lot of excess fabric around the front of the arm hole.

So after lots of playing around and moving, we moved the fabric so that it would take out the extra fabric.

This how ever would mean editing the front pattern and making a new bodice front.

What was taken out the of the pattern lower down, was added to the top of the pattern, so that no fabric is actually lost so that it will fit correctly to the actor.

During this fitting the arm hole shape was also edited that that it was more rounded and curved. However rather than also making new pattern pieces the marks were drawn on, and when we would flat tack it to the main fabric it would be along these new lines, not the old ill fittings lines.

Although this fittings gave us more work to do, it did also help to create a costume that will fit well to our actor.

So the work carries on.
